Estate Forester
Kinnordy Estate, Angus
To maintain and manage Estate woodland as directed by the Estate Manager and/ or the Forestry Advisor. Planting of young trees as required. Works to control invasive species, including spraying. Landscaping as required, to include driveway repairs and small fencing repairs. Survey and inspect trees, managing safety issues as they arise. Provision of woodchip and fire logs for Kinnordy House. To provide support for other Estate staff, and work as part of the Estate maintenance team. Chainsaw tree felling, including windblow. Use of forestry machinery including tractor winch, timber trailers, woodchipper and firewood processor. Maintain the Estate equipment provided for your role.
Skills required: A
team player with good communication skills. Approachable, friendly and able to
work with the estate team, outside contractors, tenants and members of the
local community. The ideal candidate will be an experienced chainsaw operator,
and skilled in the operation of a number of pieces of forestry equipment.
Motivated and proactive, with a positive outlook. Must hold valid UK drivers’
license.
Skills desirable: The
relevant qualifications (NVQ level 3, RHS level 2 or 3, degree level or
equivalent). PA1 and PA6 chemical spraying and CS30/CS31 certificates
desirable. CS32 Larger tree felling. CS34/35 Wind blow felling. PA6AW -
spraying near a watercourse.
On-going
training will be provided.
Hours – Full time
