Expression of Interest – Forestry & Plant Health Field Work
We’re looking for keen, committed people to support our ongoing and upcoming plant health work as part of Forestry Commission Plant Health operations across the UK.
If you’re a student, graduate, or already working in forestry, arboriculture, ecology (or something similar), this is a great chance to get stuck into hands-on fieldwork and build experience.
Where you’ll be based: Work will be carried out across:

East England

South East England

Central England

South West England

Wales
You’ll ideally be based within or near one of these regions, with the ability to travel to different sites as required.
What you’ll be doing:

Surveying for Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) nests

Setting up, checking, and servicing pheromone traps

Timber import inspections

Sweet Chestnut Blight surveying

Using ArcGIS apps and GPS to record survey information

Tree marking and measuring
What we’re looking for:

Interest or background in forestry, ecology, arboriculture or similar

Comfortable working outdoors

Tree species identification desirable

Willingness to travel and work across different regions

Full UK driving licence required

Own vehicle desirable

Contract: Seasonal / short-term sub- contract work, with potential for more depending on workload. Majority of workload from June to October.
