U.S. Embassy London is seeking an experienced Agricultural Specialist to serve as technical advisor to the Agricultural Counselor, U.S. officials and industry with regard to policy and market access issues affecting U.S. agriculture and food exports to the UK and Ireland.

The incumbent of this position performs a multitude of functions, providing input to USDA's strategic direction. The ideal candidate will independently collect and analyze standard to complex market information, trade statistics and technical data; advocating for U.S. interests through contact with Senior host government officials, industry and academia. You will also initiate and implement outreach programs to deliver key messages to host governments and trade.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Marketing, Agriculture, or Business Administration.

EXPERIENCE:

Progressively responsible work experience in agricultural economics, agricultural policy, commodity trade, and/or marketing analysis/research that includes significant analysis and report writing is required.

LANGUAGE:

Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (this may be tested).

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Expert knowledge of agriculture policies and programs is required. Knowledge of local laws and policies governing agricultural production and trade is required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

A full manual UK/EU/EEA driver’s license is required.
