Salary Range: £21,269 per annum progressing to £25,927 per annum dependent on skills & experience with opportunity for progression
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Fixed Term/Secondment until 31/03/2024

Job Duties:

An opportunity has become available for a recent environmental graduate to join our land management advisory team at an exciting time of expansion. You will gain valuable experience working in an interesting and varied role and will receive support to develop your portfolio of skills and experience in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Our ambitious Sustainable Hertfordshire Strategy has committed the authority to improving biodiversity across the county by 20% by 2050, starting with our own land by 2030. This is your chance to join our Countryside & Rights of Way Service, playing a vital role in making these challenging targets a reality.

About you:

  • Graduate calibre candidate looking to develop expertise and competence in land management
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to a career in countryside management, greenspace development or delivery of green infrastructure
  • Able to work in an organised and professional manner, assimilate information from more experienced colleagues and develop skills quickly to make a meaningful contribution
  • Excellent IT literacy skills
  • A full current driving licence is essential


About us:

We work in partnership with landowners, communities and other local authorities to develop projects that enhance the environment for people and wildlife and to manage our access network. Our current project portfolio includes a considerable range of work across a number of key sites and habitats including woodland management at a range of scales, heathland restoration in Hertfordshire’s only NNR, chalk river restoration and developing old railway lines as non-motorised transport routes.
