Do you have a passion and enthusiasm for nature? Can you help connect the next generation with local wildlife, to protect it for the future? We need you! We work with thousands of children and young people every year in Haringey running fun, engaging outdoor activities for children across our local green spaces. Volunteer Officers are a key part of our team, working with young people and the local community at Railway Fields local nature reserve, helping to plan, prepare and run sessions. You will be trained and supported by our Education Officer, alongside other experienced Volunteer Officers. Typical activities include: - Running environmental education sessions for school visits during term time. - Running activities for families during the school holidays. - Keeping education resources up to date and developing new resources, activities or materials as required. - Getting involved with other elements of TCV Haringey to suit your interests e.g. social media, conservation tasks, wildlife surveys etc.

Benefits to you:
- Learn to run a range of outdoor education activities with schools and community groups - Join our monthly skills shares, from plant and animal identification walks, to writing risk assessments and safeguarding refreshers - Work as part of a fun, passionate and creative team. The role will give you real responsibility in a supportive environment, and aims to support you into being able to run activities and lead groups independently. This is not a requirement of the role, but for those who wish to gain the experience. As well as valuable experience with an organisation recognised by employers in the environmental field, we will provide you with a range of useful training courses, job opportunity information and references. It's also a chance to do something very satisfying and worthwhile, and have lots of fun with some great people!

What you need:
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who are keen to work with young people and to connect others with green spaces. You do not need to have experience in this area already, simply a will to learn, a passion to share your interests with others and good communication skills.

How much time:
0.5-2 days per week

You will be supported in your role by experienced staff through regular meetings where issues can be resolved and guidance provided. You will have all reasonable expenses covered (foreign travel excepted) so will not be out of pocket through your volunteering. You will be insured and expected to comply with the policies and procedures of The Conservation Volunteers.

Where roles will be responsible for others, we need to check your references. When the role involves young people and vulnerable adults, we will need to ask for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau, Central Registered Body in Scotland or appropriate body in Northern Ireland.

Many people who work in the Environmental Sector have used a Volunteer Officer role as a stepping stone in their career.
