Position: Garden Maintenance Operative

Reports to: Garden Maintenance Team Leader

Job Summary:

The Garden Maintenance Operative participates in the day-to-day garden maintenance of a designated portfolio of high-end residential properties. The Operative is directed by the Team Leader. Responsibilities include carrying out various garden tasks as requested to help keep our clients' beautiful gardens a sight to behold and a fitting reflection of their properties and our company ethos.

You will play a central role in the day-to-day planning and implementation of our work, from small terraces to large estate-like gardens, working as part of a team at various sites throughout Central and South West London.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Minimum of one year experience in residential garden maintenance

• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in garden maintenance operations

• Basic knowledge of standard horticultural practices (planting, pruning, fertilising, etc.)

• Basic knowledge of growth characteristics and identification of a wide variety of plants

• Full clean EU or UK driving licence. Experience of driving vans would be an advantage

• Desirable: horticultural qualifications, PA1 & PA6 spraying certificate, basic first aid.

Main Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the appearance of clients’ properties meet or exceed expectations and that Randle Siddeley’s goals of excellent client service are always achieved

• Communicate regularly with the Maintenance Team Leader regarding day-to-day maintenance operations including reporting any unusual conditions

• Carry out maintenance tasks as requested in the most efficient and timely manner

• Follow all Randle Siddeley policies and procedures as appropriate

• Interact with clients and liaise between clients and the Maintenance Team Leader as required

• Comply with all Randle Siddeley health and safety policies and procedures as appropriate

• Care for assigned equipment and notify the Maintenance Team Leader of any required repairs

• If a driver, then contribute to care for assigned vehicle including cleaning and basic maintenance i.e. oil checks, screen wash, tyre pressure checks

• Maintain effective employee, client and public relations

• Any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Team Leader.

Working Conditions:

• 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday

• Full-time, permanent role (limited number of summer placements may be available)

• This is mainly a mobile gardener role – you will be expected to arrange your own transport to the first site on your daily schedule and from the last site of the day

• Area: Greater London

• Physical demands include heavy lifting and carrying, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, kneeling and repetitive motion.
