College Student Governors | Dear Students, Every year, we give students the opportunity to be a Student Governor on the main Governing Body of the College. This is an exciting, responsible and really important opportunity for you to contribute to the running of the College. As a Student Governor, you will be a full member of the Board and you will vote on decisions affecting the College. You will receive training through the National Student Governor Training Programme and gain much personal development and enrichment, and something extremely powerful to include on your CV, which will make a difference when applying for jobs or University places. The role involves attending at least 2 online Committee meetings per term and up to 5 in-person Full Governing Body meetings per year at Capel’s campuses, which may include an educational tour or training session. Please view this video for more information on the benefits of becoming a Student Governor: We currently have vacancies for Full Student Governors and Reserve Student Governors, who will also take part in the training, be given opportunities to attend some Governor meetings and be in-line to be considered to be made Full Student Governors. To apply you need to be enrolled on a full or part-time course over the 3 terms of the academic year, including Apprenticeships and Higher Education. In order to be considered for this exciting
position, simply: · Complete the application form, which includes a short statement of interest about why you wish to become a Student Governor and what you hope to gain from the experience.
