How to log in
Please log in to Moodle via your account on Office 365. On a College computer, this should mean that you are logged in automatically. From home, please use yourstudentIDnumber@student.capel.ac.uk as your email address. You student ID number can be found on your ID badge.
A password needs to be set up on a College computer as
Note: returning students must first log in the same way as previously, before switching their login to Office 365 via the Microsoft block on your Moodle Dashboard.
First time logging in:
Before accessing our online tools for the first time, please log in to a College computer to set up your Capel IT password.
USERNAME: your 8 digit student ID number as written on your
student ID card.
PASSWORD: to set up a password, please log in to a College
computer with your date of birth as 8 digits (for example 2nd
April 1993 = 02041993). It will then ask you to change your
password. The new password needs to be at least 8 characters
long. Remember your new password! After setting up your
password on a College computer, you will then be able to use this
for Moodle, the computers and your student email.
For security reasons, your IT password is set to expire every 90 days. Two weeks before your password expires, regular warnings/reminders will be sent to your student email and there will be a warning message when you log in to a College computer.
If your password has expired you will not be able to access Moodle or your student e-mail until you've set up a new password on a College computer. You can prevent this by changing your password before its expiry: log in to a College computer, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on the keyboard and select "Change password".
If you are an online or part time student who is unable to come to the College, please contact one of your teachers (email@example.com) who can change your password for you.
Forgotten email / password:
Your email address is yourstudentIDnumber@studetn.capel.ac.uk. Your username is your 8 digit student number, which can be found on your student ID card. If you have lost your student ID card, please come to the Student enquiries desk at reception to arrange a new one. If you have forgotten your password, please ask one of your teachers or come to the library with your student ID to have your password changed.
Changing your password:
Your Moodle and Office 365 password is synchronised with your IT network password. To change your password: login to a College computer (using your existing password), then press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on the PC and select "Change Password". Once you have updated your password, you must use this new password for logging in to College computers, Moodle and your student e-mail.
Still can't log in:
Note that the password is case sensitive. If you continue to have problems logging in, please contact the library by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 0303 003 1234 extension 1152.
Please log in to Moodle via Office 365 after switching your login to this system. Your login is your College email address and the same password as you use to log in to College computers. If you have forgotten your login, please contact IT on extension 1297 or extension 1132.
