About us
The All England Lawn Tennis Club (Championships) Limited (AELTC) organises and stages The Championships, Wimbledon, widely regarded as the world’s premier tennis tournament, hosted on the Grounds of one of the world’s most prestigious tennis clubs.
The AELTC's estate covers an area of over 130 acres, made up of a wide array of landscape types and uses, including urban built form and public realm, English gardens and a Grade II* listed parkland formally operated as a golf course.
Year-round the Grounds and Horticulture Department’s role is to maintain and deliver a wide range of projects to facilitate the AELTC’s corporate objectives and the delivery of The Championships.
The Horticultural Services Department designs and delivers the landscaping in accordance with the Strategic Plan to encompass multiple venues. We provide landscaping at the heart of ‘Tennis in an English Garden’ adding up to 19,000 additional plants to enhance the venue and experience for spectators, members and visitors. Throughout the rest of the year the venues are maintained and managed to a high standard by an established and experienced horticultural team.
This supports the AELTC’s goal of delivering the world’s premier tennis tournament and to support one of the world’s most prestigious tennis clubs.

Our business has grown in recent years, and we expect this to continue. We have plans to further improve our facilities and invest in our people in future years. Our success is important to us, and we are guided by our key values of Heritage, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
In 2019 The Club purchased the remaining lease from the Wimbledon Park Golf Club, of which they already owned the freehold. Over the last few years, golf has now ended, and the parkland is being maintained in preparation for the proposed plans to redevelop the site.
The proposed future development has been well publicised. Further details can be found here - The AELTC Wimbledon Park Project - The Championships, Wimbledon - Official Site by IBM. Our proposals include the reimagination of the historic Capability Brown parkland, incorporating 38 new grass courts, a new parkland show court, daylighting of 2 historic brooks, and the creation of a mosaic of habitats. The project will also deliver a new 9.4-hectare public parkland, on land that has not been accessible to the public for over 100 years.
